    The location by the Arabian Sea has an influence over the climatic conditions of Mumbai. Falling in a tropical zone and its nearness to the Arabian Sea, Mumbai has two seasonal divisions. The city is characterized by the humid and dry season.

    The humid season falls during the months of March and October. During this time, the city experiences high humidity, with temperatures going up to as far as 30 °C. The best time to visit the city is during these months.

    Mumbai experiences heavy rainfall during the months of June and September. The heavy showers inundate the city, often bringing life to a standstill.

    The city receives as high as 2,200 millimeters of annual rainfall.

    Mumbai received the highest rainfall in the year 1954, when the city experienced a record of 3,452 millimeters. 2005 rains had a devastating impact on the city and its inhabitants. Rainfall in a single day was recorded as high as 944 millimeters, the highest ever, in the climatic history of Mumbai.

    The dry season covers the months of November and February. The weather of Mumbai during this time is marked by lesser humidity and pleasant conditions. A mild cold during the months of January and February can be attributed to the cold northerly winds.

    While the maximum average temperature is approximately 38 °C, the minimum average temperature is as low as11 °C every year.

    For most of us, there is evidence that we tend to change our moods and feelings with the weather.  Some of us will remain very active in certain weather conditions while we become dormant in other weather condition. The main mechanism which defines how weather affects our moods and feeling can be explained by the role of hormones like serotonin which is associated with depression and other homes. It is believed that these hormones are affected by the changes in the weather condition.

    Scientists have proved the existence of Season Affective Disorder in which the mood of an individual change with the weather condition. However, this disorder is affected by the changes in winter and summer season which comes with changes in weather condition. Although I don’t suffer from the condition, I have experienced sometime the changes in that my moods and feelings according to weather conditions.

    I have experienced that during the cold season, I tend to be cold too. This means that most of the case I want to be alone meditating. I don’t like talking much during the cold seasons and I tend to remain quiet. My mood is quite low during the cold season as compared to other seasons.

    On the other hand, I have experience good moods and feeling when in hot seasons. I am very active during the hot seasons and I like talking a lot. I have also found out the during the host season, I like moving a lot and it is very rare to find me indoors.  My mood is generally good during the hot season as compared other seasons. However, I have also found out that during the extreme hot seasons, I tend to become bored and quite inactive.  During this time also, I will spend most of the time indoors.

    This is how my mood and feelings changes with the change in weather condition. Although I cannot say that I have seasonal affective disorder, I have found out that changes in weather condition affect my mood and feelings.
